Any help . I'm painting Great Northern Sky Blue F units. What is correct color for the roof. I work in Modelflex or Polly S paints. Thanks.

I "think" it is a dark gray, similar to SP Lark Gray. Below is a link to the Great Northern Railway Historical Society, color chart. You can also do some nosing around there for the exact color match. I'll look at home tonight on the ref sheet to see paint color matches.

While I don't do much in BSB, on the locomotives that I have painted in
that scheme I used SP Dark Lark Gray. It was a very close match to
fresh painted units. I have noticed that, in service, the Big Sky Blue
scheme (especially the blue) did not hold up in the weather very well.
The blue would fade and in some cases, act almost like water colors-it
would literally wash away, leaving very visible Orange and Green under-
neath. The gray didn't wash away but it did fade rather quickly so dep-
ending on how weathered your equipment will be, you can use a range
of darkish grays. Hope this is helpful. I agree with "rockythegoat'-the
GNRHS Reference Sheet #28 is your best source.
