Dear Folk,
I'm interested in modeling some rolling stock for the old Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf RR. I found a Labelle gondola kit, and some online caboose pics, but that's all.
Any ideas of models available or what boxcars, flats, tank, etc. prototypically looked like for this RR? colors? types of cars? lettering?, etc.
Thanks,
Mike
According to a June 1905 ORER the OC&G was a subsidiary of the CRIP and was included in their totals. There were about 6500 cars lettered for the CO&G. I would imagine the colors and lettering style would be similar to a CRIP car of the era, only with CO&G lettering.
They had boxcars (mostly 34 and 36 ft, about 1500 each), Furniture cars (44 and 50 ft), stock cars, coal cars (the gondolas) and flat cars. In 1905, the CO&G passenger equipment was being renumbered into the CRIP series. They had 96 CO&G cabooses in the 400-512 series.
I would research the CRIP and model cars along those designs, but with CO&G lettering.

Does anyone know who makes decal sets for the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf?
Also, what vendors make 34 or 36' OT boxcars and 44' furniture cars?
Proubly Labell for the funiture, lots out there for the 36' box depending on what exactly you want as far a detail.
Pretty much model railroad manufacturers in the US think railroads were invented around 1915-1920. There hasn't been a new plastic kit for a wood truss rod car in the last 50 years and there isn't an accurate wood coal car in plastic at all.
Labelle sells wood craftsman kits.
Westerfield sells some early cars, mostly 1915-1930 era in resin kits.
Bachmann sells an 1880's era design 34 ft boxcar.
Trout Creek sells wood craftsman kits of cars and gons.
BTS sells wood craftsman kits of 34 and 36' boxcars.
Athearn Roundhouse sells RTR 36 ft boxcars and stock cars.
Plus there are older, out of production 34 ft boxcars, gons and stock cars in kit or plastic RTR on the used car market.
Decals are hard to come by, I doubt that anybody makes OC&G decals. K4 and Westerfield sell some decals that could be used for CRIP cars or others in the era. Clover House has dry transfers.
Tichy sells plastic detail parts.
