Track inspection car that gauges the height and distance to obsticles such as overhangs and sides of tunnels and bridges. After arriving at the obsticle the train would stop and inspectors would have to push out inspection rods and take readings inscribed on the rods as to how high or far the sides of the tunnel were from about 40 or so points on the car.
