Luigi,
It's not a stupid request. What would be stupid would be to not ask the question. The answer to GAS&C acronym is Georgia, Ashburn, Sylvester & Camilla I found that by clicking on the Index of Magazines at the top of this page. Then I went down the left hand column labeled Search . . . until I found For Roadname, chose Reporting Marks Search, typed in GAS&C to learn what railroad had those reporting marks and also learned that there are two articles about that railroad cited in the Index. Don't know if all the reporting marks in Fallen Flags are in the Index, but you can try. Hope this helps.

WBT&S RR really the Waco, Brazos, Trinity and Sabine RR in Texas (named for Texas Rivers) but called the "Wobbly Bobbly Turnover and Stop."

HE&WT Houston East and West Texas was called the "Hell Either Way Taken".

Then there was the proposed merger of the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe into SPSF which was disallowed by regulatory authorities. A few locomotive were painted in anticipation of the merger being approved which didn't happen. Joke is that SPSF stands for "Shouldn't-a Painted So Fast".

Thank you for the effort. Good suggestions.

I think, this will be my long term project for the next months: a kind of cyclopedya of US railways companies with short information about origin and mergers.

Best Andrea

I found a website that might have what you want. Try http://home1.gte.net/stumpie/rrnicks.htm It has a lot of railroads and humerous nicknames. When you get to the page,go to the bottom for railroad names and nicknames.
