My mothers' family is from the Johnstown PA (remember the flood) area. I joined the Facebook Cambria County Geneology Page. You would think it would all be high school photos, obituraries, family stuff. Not so. At least 25% of it is posting pictures of the coal mining and railroading industries.

Nice find, Henry.
I've joined a few historical societies FB groups, and find them a wealth of info. with lots of old photos.
The Burlington, WI. historical Society's site has been an excellent source for local RR history, along with the Milwaukee Road's group.

I joined the FB page of the community where I grew up. The # of photos posted is amazing and more are constantly being added. On top of that, I have added some stories of my own about playing hockey on the sluice ponds and how it was 60 years ago. Lots of friends from my childhood and I have hooked up as well remembering old times.
I also have joined numerous FB RR sites where I have at my fingertips thousands and thousands of photos.
I have also signed onto many modeling sites where I have learned so much. Did you know there is a FB site for just modeling track? Nothing is talked about but laying and weathering track. Those guys are good.

I stumbled across this page which was part of a family genealogy study. There's some great information about the Aliquippa Works of J&L Steel here:

There is also one on for Blueprinting and Constructing Roads, Bridges, Buildings, Scenery and Water. Small page but with some impressive modeling work. Full disclosure: I am a member and admin for this page as well and pictures aren't just mine.
