Judson Steel plant in Emerville CA.

Ed,  Thumbs up on your plans to model Judson Steel.  Oh yeah! The days of Judson and their amazing mountains of junk cars and scrap metal.  Nearby Sherwin Williams factory with that iconic illuminated sign covering the earth with red paint over and over.  The Emeryville mudflats, dotted with decades of abandoned tires and all kinds of handmade driftwood sculptures.  The combined aroma of molten metal and low tide would put hair on anyone's chest.

Thanks for the memories,  Regards, Peter

I don't have much space... only about 3x6 feet

You lost me at this point after posting an image of such a massively large and complicated complex.

Some things just aren't possible to be done. Fitting a mile+ long industry into 500 scale feet is one of them.

That's not "10 pounds of $%^ in a 5 pound bag" that's 10 tons...

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions.

I have decided to make this part of my layout the highline waste dump rather than trying to cram the whole complex into this ridiculously small space lol. I like the idea of just modeling one specific portion of the zinc smelting operation, and I think the slag waste pile would be a perfect fit for the space I have. I will save the rest of the industry for my next layout.

Now I need to figure out how to make an 8ft deck girder bridge to run the whole length of it...
