[/quote] Heading West from Cincinnati, Ohio along the river, B&O and NYC ran parallel between Cincinnati and North Bend, Ohio.  At North Bend, the NYC curves off to the north, while the B&O follows the river.  They come close to meeting (and at one time they did) in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
