Best book for Santa Fe steam in color?
Posted by PRR8259 on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 12:52 AM

Hi All--

I know there are a lot of Santa Fe books, but is there a good one that has color images of the Santa Fe steam power?

Specifically, is there one any "better" than Santa Fe in the Lone Star State?  or the Bill Marvel Santa Fe All the Way book?

How about vintage Santa Fe steam on dvd?

Thanks.

John

In addition of the two books you mention, I have the four-volume series "Santa Fe 1940-1971 in Color". Volume 1 and 2 each contain about 10 pages worth of steam in color, volumes 3 and 4 less.

As to DVDs, I own "Otto Perry's Santa Fe". It is about 40 minutes long, half steam, half Diesel. The steam is half b/w and half color. Most of the footage shows Colorado and New Mexico, with a bit of Missouri at the end. Steam is lots of Northerns, some 2-10-2s, some Prairies, and some lovely shots of the 2-8-8-2 helpers on the Raton Pass (in b/w).

Thank you for the reply.  I thought it would be a short list.
