Avon Yard Presentation
Posted by rogerhensley on Friday, January 3, 2020 6:33 AM

On August 19, 2002, I said...

"Numerous freight trains cross Madison County daily with destinations such as Cleveland, Ansonia, Toledo, Terre Haute and St. Louis. One place that many of these trains have in common is the Big Four Yard at Avon ten miles west of downtown Indianapolis. Monday's are slow there and Maurice Lewman was able to get permission for us to tour the yard.

The day dawned bright and sunny...
No, it didn't. It was raining hard and was dark and dismal. But by 9 A.M., the rain had let up quite a bit and Maurice was at my door ready to go. "

On February 2nd 2020, I will hold the 'First Sunday' Power Point Presentation at the Museum of Madison County History at 11 West 11th Street here in Anderson Indiana at 2 PM detailing with our tour of Avon Yard. It was a fascinating trip! The presentation only catches a little of what we saw! Come out and take a look at the presentation.

Nice Roger, good luck with your presentation.

I gotta say though, that first picture looks like the box is heading down a ski hill and not a hump ramp!

Look out down there!  Laugh

Mike.
