Which NKP 2-8-4s had Mars Lights?
Posted by Trainman440 on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 8:55 PM

Hi,

Is there a database that will tell me which NKP Berkshires had marslights and which ones didn't? Could it be plausible that some that previously didn't have them, had a mars light fitted later in their years?

Thanks!

Charles

      Trainman440,

A cursory look at George Elwood's Railroad Fallen Flags website seems to indicate the lower 700s were delivered without Mars lights but most engines were fitted with them by mid to late 1950s.  Of course, the engine you are interested in, and the time frame may be important factors in your question.  Maybe the NKP Historical and Technical Society has the answers you seek.

Check the NKP historical and technical society, they often have various images of trains on their websites, and if you can find images of the class of steamers you are interested in. Comparing pictures of various photos should give you the answers you need.
