Baldwin S-12 hood width-prototype or Bowser

I seek to narrow an Athearn S-12 hood to a more accurate width. The dieselshop website is no help; if anyone knows the prototype's width or can measure their Bowser model, that would help get me started on this project.

Why do you say that?  I just looked and it says that the hood width is 9 feet, 10 inches.

That is not correct - there would be no room for the walk-ways...

Measuring the drawing of a VO-1000 in Kalmbach's "Diesel Locomotive Cyclopedia-Volume 2", I get a hood width of 67.9 HO inches.  The S-12 certainly had the same dimension.

I also measured my Bowser VO-1000 and got .817".  Which is 71.2 HO inches.

The Diesel Shop has a lot of dimensional errors.
