"Black Lexus SUV"!
Posted by wobblinwheel on Thursday, January 25, 2018 12:02 AM

I was playing around with the sound on my BLI H10 Consolidation the other day, and I kept punching the different "radio chatter" function keys, and all of a sudden I heard something like: "Do you see that black SUV?" and the response was: "You mean the black LEXUS?" "Yeah, they were honkin' and wavin' like CRAZY!" I had no idea that Lexus SUV's have been around THAT LONG...!!

I'm thinking they got it confused with one of the old STUDEBAKER SUV's. Don't ya think...?

That's why I won't use crew sounds... I am the crew... but very interesting, who knows what our little models will be saying next! Laugh

The original Lexus SUV was the Lexus version of the Toyota 80 series Land Cruiser, the LX-450. That would tend to date the comment to sometime after the early- to mid-90s.

Pretty much out of the "PRR H10 era", I'd say!

It's unfortunate that they tend to use the same "chatter" for every engine. That's one thing Lionel does well for the O guys, their engines have specific things for each engine, even different accents (so your Noo Yawk Central E-unit chatter is very different from y'all's Southern E-unit chatter).

Your H10 has a radio?

Does it have the big inductive trainphone antennas on the tender?

No. I made an antenna out of a paper clip and some aluminum foil to get the radio to work. Just like my old TV back in the 70's, I periodically have to move it around to get the best reception...
