Hello, I would like to know in what year CNR started installing winterization hatches on it's diesel locomotives.
Thank you
Serge
According to photos that can be seen in the "Canadian National Railways Diesel locomotives Volume two", the very first GP7 delivered to CNR in August 1953 (No. 7555) was equipped with a winterization hatch.
Edit:
On page 134 of the "Canadian National Railways Diesel locomotives Volume One", there is a photo of a GMD F7A taken in 1952, the No. 9046. It is equipped with a winterization hatch. On all photos of its predecessor, the F3A, I can't see any winterization hatch.
These informations are based on what I can see on the available photos, not on first hand knowledge.
