Athearn Dash 9 cab interior
Posted by Mountain River RR on Saturday, June 11, 2016 11:17 PM

Does anyone know where I can find a cab interior for an old Athearn Blue Box C44-9W(Dash 9) dummy unit?

I have scoured the internet from here to there and cannot find anything current about it.  Any help would be very appreciated....

You probably won't find an interior, unless it's from a Spectrum, or a Genesis, or Kato, or you build it.  You might find something on eBay, with a search on "C44-9W" locos.

What counts, and is what's seen, is the engineer, and conductor.  You don't see the control stand, or any details, only if you feel it's important to add them.

When "up-grading" a BB Athearn, or a Kato,  I always add the crew members, by glueing them to a "seat", and hope I get the right height.

The last picture, I have the engineer sitting too high.  I just don't like seeing pictures of locos at work, and no crew visable inside.  I have yet to add a brakeman, or a trainman, on the ground, or on the steps, while making switching moves, which is one of my projects.

There are plenty of pictures of the interior of a Dash 9 on the internet.  Your have decide how far you want to go with the detailing, alot of which is not scene.
