ATSF FP45s in pinstripe?
Posted by sandusky on Sunday, May 22, 2016 3:49 PM

I know they did the F-45s in the pinstripe paint scheme (as original equipment, I would think). Any evidence that the Warbonnet FP45s were ever repainted to that livery?

According to The Santa Fe Diesel Volume Two: 1960-1995 by Dr. Cinthia Priest yes. A total of seven of nine FP45s were repainted into pinstripe between July 1971 and May 1972. Those units were 5940-5941, 5943, and 5945-5948. The 5942 and 5944 went directly from red warbonnet to yellow warbonnet.

This website has some more details on the FP45 paint schemes. Click on the individual road number for details on the history of each unit.
