2015 is the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR). Last week I took a trip on VIA Rail from Winnipeg to Canora, Sask. on the old CNoR line on behalf of Rail Travel Tours, which is offering a special tour Aug. 18-20 to mark the anniversary of the Railway.

The depot in Dauphin is well worth preservation into the future. The old round house is still pretty much in tact as the City Garage making an interesting repurposing. May have to look into the August trip. My last passenger trip by rail was in about 1976 on the CN train from the Pas to Churchill. My grown daughters still talk about the only passenger overnight trip they have ever taken.
