I am part of a group that is restoring B&O caboose 1939. We have been unable to locate any photos of this caboose in service. We know this caboose spent most of its time in Chillicothe, Ohio. We have managed to locate a photo of caboose 1935. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Not sure what your purpose is here. There were 400 B&O I-5 cabooses, carrying road numbers C-1900 through C-2299. C-1939 was built as part of the road's first large order, built at Washington, IN in the period from November, 1925 to February, 1926. Many I-5's had their wheelbase lengthened and were reclassed I-5c; and many had the lengthened wheelbase AND extra ballast weight added, becoming class I-5d. It might be difficult to find a photo of C-1939; but photos of the 400 I-5's, I-5c's, and I-5d's are readily available from a variety of sources. Robert Hubler's CABOOSES OF THE BALTIMORE & OHIO RAILROAD (B&O Hist. Soc. , 1994) and Dwight Jones' BALTIMORE & OHIO CABOOSES (T.L.C., 1998) are the two most readily available info sources.
we know 1939 is an I5D and we are familiar with the information you mentioned. I have both caboose books you mention and there is no picture of 1939.
We are close to the stage of painting and lettering this caboose and we know that there were variations in lettering and Capital Dome emblems between cabooses, we would like to find a picture of this caboose in service so we know for sure how it was lettered.
We have tried asking within our local community also.

Good luck on the rebuild and the photo search. Depending on the era, B&O lettering was fairly standard, system-wide. I vote for the late 1940's scheme with the road name spelled out and the "13 Great States" emblem.
Where is the car located? Do you have a safe & secure display site?
When you say "local community", I hope it's more than just train-guys. Fer example, the local newspaper might have something--either the photo or perhaps someone knows someone who....
And then there's the families of the people who worked on the caboose.....
And then maybe even the bars and eateries the guys frequented....
Ya never know.

The caboose sits in our local park alongside C&O Kanawa # 2776. The display is secure but unfortunately open to the elements, our long term goal is to build a roof over the display. As far trying to locate pictures of caboose 1939 we have put articles in the local paper, historical society etc.
The dispay is located in Washington Court House, Ohio.
I was involved in moving and cosmetically restoring I-5d No. C-2170 some years back. It now resides in Middlefield, Ohio.
Perhaps you could contact someone at Spring Mills Depot. They have done some extensive research and maybe they have some information that you would find helpful? They plan to release an I-5 in HO and N.

I didn't intend to post the picture as a link. Is it because I am using an iPad that I am having so much trouble posting pictures? Once I figure it out I will post more pictures.
I don't have an Ipad so I can't answer that. Photobucket uses Adobe Flash, which Apple hates (for good reason) so that may be the problem
