Super Chief car interior colors

I'm looking for info on the interior decor of the ATSF Super Chief's cars so I can detail paint the interiors of the Walthers HO cars. Any help will be appreciated.

The walls inside of the diner should be Turquois and inside the kitchen should be stainless steel and not silver. the carpeting was Pullmans standerd green fern patter. chairs should be blue/green and stainless steel. walls inside of sleepers should be either light sand with turquois on ceilings and green fern patter for carpeting. sofas and lounge chairs should be a dark red. blue will work for the lounge and sofas in the dome lounge however, the Turquois room should be a rosewood color with dark blue green uhpolstery. parlor and coach seats in the dome should be blue/green and stainless steel. lounge seats in obs should be blue/green with green fern pattern for carpeting. These are my recolections of the interiors of the cars. only cars that retain this color scheme today is the Fred Harvey (BNSF) and the former Regal Sleepers (now Pass series sleepers with the BNSF.) If you are using the Walthers 4-4-2 sleepers, the walls should be a light pale green (Testors Model Master) carpeting should be fern pattern and sofas and lounge seates in the Drawing rooms should be a dark red (Testors Model Master Guards Red is a good and close match. )

If you look at the web page listed, you will find color interior pictures of many of the Santa Fe passenger cars from advertisements.

The link for the artists rendering is for lounge cars assigned to general service and aren't as distinctive. The interiors for the Superchief are much different. the Ceiling should be Turquois and not light sand. The carpeting should be Pullman's Dark Green fern pattern.

They have many pictures listed for several of the 1949 Super Chief cars, but the carpet does not match the Dark green.
The Arist rendering could be incorrect, but check out the other pictures under the 1949 Super Chief.

I looked at the 1941 Super Chief interior pictures and some of them match the description you have listed. The web link below has the Green Carpet with the sand color ceiling, but some of the others have the Turquios ceilings in the 1941 series pictures. Could they have changed colors with the new consist?

If you have pictures, I would like to see them as I model both the high level El Capitan and the low level train. My cars have the interior already finished, but they might not be correct.

The above web page will get you to a page and then click on passenger cars, then click on interior of passenger cars, then choose the train you want to see.

This web page shows a drawing room with the Turquise ceiling, but the carpet cannot be determined. It would seem that the colors are not the same on all of the cars.

For the carpeting, and discriptions of interiors, you should check into The Official Pullman-Standard Library Vol. 1 Santa Fe by W. David Randall and William M. Ross. The interiors of the prewar cars didn't vary much until the final rebuildings when the walls were painted a pale green. There is a good color shot of a pre-war PSMC 4-4-2 sleeper. There will be a book coming out next year by TLC Publications on the Super Chief and will have descriptions of the interiors.
