Scrapping an SD40-2: Interesting Video!

Subheading: Research is Surprising-2

I stumbled on this well made film documenting the deconstruction of KCS 672 at the Erman Scrap Yard in Kansas City.

[edit: I've tried a dozen ways but I can not get the video link to start at 0:00]

Here's a Google maps view of the crusher/shear seen in the film. Nice details for anyone modeling a modern scrapyard. Walthers did some of this equipment a few years ago IIRC.

I thought I'd pass this along for anyone wanting to see some full sized "kit bashing" No Zona saws and Exacto #11s here!

Enjoy, Ed

But how can they be scrapping SD40-2s?  Why, those are brand new engines -- oh wait.  No. I am older than I want to admit.

Thanks for posting the link to this exceptional program.

I know the feeling!

I visited the Railroad Museum Of Pennsylvania a few years back and saw a Penn-Central Budd Metroliner in their collection of ANTIQUES.

The same ones I rode when they were NEW!

It's not marching Ed, it's sprinting and I can't keep up.   Marching I could handle ....

I remember the NJDOT/EL U34CH locomotives when they came on line. Now I just donated money to help restore the last remaining one. Anyone want to contribute to help restore me?
