0-6-0 S-10 SWITCHER DRAWINGS

HI,
MODELING N SCALE SP YARD IN WATSONVILE CA C.1950. I HAVE DRAWINGS ON C-70 VANDERBUILT TENDERS USED WITH S-10S BUT NOW ITS EASIER TO BASH MODEL POWER LONG TENDERS THAN TO SCRATCH BUILD. I HAVE TRIED TO BASH BACHMAN 0-6-0 BUT THE BOILER RATIO IS WRONG AND BY THE TIME I GET THE LENGTH RIGHT THE MOTOR IS HALF OUT OF THE CAB. SO SOUNDS LIKE SCRATCH BUILDING ON BACHMAN RUNNING GEAR IS NEXT. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET DRAWINGS ON BALDWIN OR SP S-10 SWITCHERS?

Have you checked Guy Dunscomb's book on a century of Southern Pacific Steam? I do not have the book alas but it would be my first pick for anything SP.
The SP S-12 0-6-0 plans are in the April 1938 (!) Model Railroader page 154 -- hard to find I know, but those plans and a photo were reprinted in the 1944 "The Model Railroader Cyclopedia" page 11-12 (that is not the same Cyclopedia that Kalmbach publishes now) -- I have seen that 1944 edition at swap meets and I think I got mine for $10 a few years ago. Don't know how close an S-10 was to an S-12.

Also I think there is a preserved S-10 at Portola if an internet search is accurate, and there is a nice photo of an S-10 at

Don't forget that Model Die Casting's metal kit is an SP prototype --I think an S-9 but perhaps some parts are usable

If you are interested, you should be able to get photocopies of the April 1938 MR S-12 plans that Mr. Nelson cited from either of two sources. One is Customer Services at this site, the other is the NMRA's Kalmbach Memorial Library:

Don't know if Customer Services has the 1944 "The Model Railroader Cyclopedia," but the NMRA probably does. The photocopy rates at the NMRA are reasonable, even for non-members.

I hope my post was clear that what I found were plans for an S-12 not the S-10 that Rcrabb wanted. With luck maybe they are similar
I checked the the 1930 Locomotive Builders Cyclopedia and they do not have plans of that engine. So we're still looking I guess. Another place to go would be the historical society for the SP
