PRR N5 cabin car antenna detail
Posted by JoelP on Friday, November 8, 2013 10:26 PM

I am looking for a lead on pictures or information regarding the rooftop details of the Pennsy antenna system as applied to the N5 series.  I can't find a good picture or drawing anywhere.

I'll admit to being an internet moron here.

There is a thread and pictures on this forum from 1/30/2012 discussing PRR N5 cabooses...I don't know how to link it. Go back and take a look, might be just what you are looking for.

An N5 or an N5c ? Bowser used to have some great shots.

Here is an N5b in O scale. http://www.kohs.com/caboose%20pages/prr_n5_n5b/PRR_N5bA_Version.html

Here is an N5c prototype pic.  http://prr.railfan.net/freight/freightphotos.html?photo=http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/prr/prr477901.jpg&fr=

Another N5c. http://prr.railfan.net/freight/freightphotos.html?photo=n5c_477965.jpg&fr=

An Email to Bowser may get you more.

Although an N8, Bill Burket has a series of photos on his extensive site of PRR photos.

These are some of the best shots, being builders photos, of trainphone details on a cabin car I've seen. At least you can get the general idea of the arrangement and use the concept to adapt it for your N5.

Check out photos 131 through 135.

For an interesting shot take a look at this which must have peen a prototype or experimental setup.

Good Luck, ED
