Paint Match Help

I have an old Branchline Berwick boxcar for MIddletown & New Jersey that one of these days I will break down and assemble. What I need to know is: What color blue is the closest to the car in order to paint the wire grab irons? Any help would be appreciated.

I checked the Historical Society for the MNJR and the boxcar they show,,if that is the one,,to me it looks like a faded powder blue,,no mention of what color it was,for sure..

That would be the right car. Just as an aside, I purchased the Branchline car after getting a incorrect car lettered for them in a junk car pile thinking that it would fit it. After I got it, I decided that it looked to be a little more complex than I was willing to go with at that time. As a result, it ended up getting set upon an end table and staying there with the occasional glace at. (I do most of my modeling on the couch. I suffer with layout withdrawal at times as my layout and I are not in the same location.) I thought that I might try to pick it up again to work on it.

I was just looking at some of my paint and I run across,bottle of old Floquil,solvent based and the color is GN  Big Sky Blue,,looks very close,if not the same color.....Try whoever makes GN Big Sky Blue now and see what you think...

I managed to scrounge up a bottle of PS GN Big Sky Blue via my favorite scrounge site. I should have it by the end of the week. Given that I am just painting grab irons, close should do it. Thank you for your assistance.

While I understand your desire to match the colour of the car, keep in mind that grab irons are safety appliances, and as such are to be repaired by the railroad on which the damage occurred.   If that road's shop doesn't have a matching colour on hand, the replacement will get a coat of whatever colour that road would normally use. 
It would, of course, be very unusual for all of the grab irons on a car to require repair or replacement, but something to keep in mind when the odd grab iron (or other safety item) gets scuffed or chipped under normal operating practices.
