N&W J Class drawings
Posted by CNW-man on Monday, December 17, 2007 3:23 PM

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to draw a N&W J class 4-8-4, more specifacialy no.611, in my CAD class for my teacher, who rode the 611 back in the early 80's. I have a basic drawing, but for some reason I can't find anything close to critical information that I need, like how far apart the driving wheels should be. I know the drawings I need are in some Model Railroader issue from sometime back in the 70's, but I can't find any model railroader dating back beyond 2000. Does anyone have or know the location of something close to what I'm looking for?

Either consult the MR Locomotive Cyclopedia Vol.1 Steam Locomotives or the Hundman Locomotive Cyclopedia Vol.1.

Take a look at the drawing contained in a document at URL:

http://files.asme.org/ASMEORG/Communities/History/Landmarks/5609.pdf

It looks like 6 feet 3 inches on the drawing.
