Begin by asking the same question on the Bachmann website.

Blue:
K, I expected better from Bachmann.
Here's something to consider. I intend to superdetail one of the Spectrum 0-6-0T engines like you own to match one of the Baldwin built Southern Pacific "S" class switchers appropriate to the era 1910-1915. You can take a look at several of the SP switchers at http://espee.railfan.net/steam/sp_steam-index.html
In aid of this project I will be researching in the SP archives which are about 60 miles from my house. If all goes well I will have a set of dimensional drawings for an example of the class which I would gladly share with you IF you are willing to wait a few weeks until I get to the archives.
Alternately you could attempt to get a copy of:
Fred Westing, The Engines That Baldwin Built, 1831-1923
Richard Wright, Southern Pacific Company: Diagrams of Locomotives and Tenders
Guy Dunscomb, A Century of Southern Pacific Steam Locomotives, 1862-1962
The Locomotive Cyclopedia (by the Editors of Mainline Modeler Magazine)
If the SP modeled engine interests you and you are willing to wait until I get to the project I WILL AT SOME POINT THIS YEAR SUPPLY YOU WITH DRAWINGS? But I make no promises when.
You can email me at RDA64@Yahoo.com.
Randy

From the picture on the Bachmann website, it looks like the engine may be based on drawings that appeared on
Model Railroader
years ago, and are reprinted in
Model Railroader Cyclopedia: Steam Locomotives
. This prototype has also appeared in N, originally produced by Atlas, currently by Life-Like, and I believe Life-Like once did an HO version as well.

it is the spitting image of plan number 9 in the cyclopeadia of steam locomotives by Linn Westcott but there isn't that much information on it.
according to the cyclopeadia it is an Alco from 1910 that was built for a coal mining operation in eastern Ohio.
