I did a little web surfing and found some pictures of 40's fire trucks. The bodies are similar to 50's trucks, but the cabs are obviously different. The life span for a fire truck is about 20 years, so you can use trucks from the 20's in the 30's. Fire trucks in the 30's and 40's are much smaller than those of the 50's so pick up truck cabs can be fitted with a simple pumper body. My department had a 1928 American LaFrance until the late 1940's. They also had a WWII suplus Ford Pumper and a 1955 International Harvester R-180 that was built by a company that use to be behind our firehouse. Anyone modeling WWII or likes Willy Jeeps, the military outfitted Jeeps as Fire Trucks. <br />I do not know how to pictures on these posts, so until then my departments Ford pumper looks like a Ford pick up with a small fire truck body. <br />www.bustifire.com/history.htm
