You could try the MRC homepage at http://www.modelrec.com There you might find more info about steam decoders or at least more contact info like a e-mail address. Or call MRC direct at 732-225-6360. They will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about decoders. Or if all else fails send e-mail to [e-mail] and ask them. Hopes this helps.

Thanks war, Ive beento the mrc web site,, nothing there but that they have it, and really I prefer an independent evaluation.

Unless MRC has drastically changed their quality control, I will never touch another of their decoders. If you're talking about their new sound decoder, forget it. From what I have heard at a site that has sound samples, the sounds are very limited and you have no control over them -- they just go off according to a pre-programmed sequence. The first batch of 4 MRC decoders I purchased had only one good one in the lot, and a locomotive with an MRC decoder pre-installed had a bad decoder from the get-go; so I wound up with only one good decoder out of 5, and had to use it to replace the one in the loco.

I agree cac, the more I read the less I liked what I was reading. And my experiance with MRC decoders has been, shall we say ,less then stellar[V]

I agree totally folks. I am not impressed with anything in their DCC line. The recent reviews I read on their sound decoders and listening to the wav files on line soured me immediately. I don't like their stationary sound effects systems either. They sound like weak immitations designed for a child's battery operated toy set.
