New NCE DCC System
Posted by Phil1361 on Thursday, July 7, 2005 8:51 AM
I am considering buying the new NCE DCC system. The Power Cab I think it is called. Retail is $179 but Tony's has it for $139. any opinions on this system?

I apologize if this topic has been discussed before and I could not find it.

there is a thread somewhere here about it , but it ran out of steam (hehe) fairly quickly since the system hasn't started shipping yet and nobody has had their hands on one (or if they have they're not talking ) . it looks interesting , if you buy one , let us know all the details ok ?

According to the NCE Yahoo group the new starter system has all the functionality of the regular system but with a lower power output (2.5 amps max) and a reduced capability for adding additional throttles to it.
The Power cab can be used as a throttle on a regular NCE system and it can be converted to a radio cab also.

Does that mean you can't upgrade it to larger power station with more Amperage capability? I am an O scale. The way system is now I was just going to use it for programming because it can maybe handle one O Scale locomotive.

Maybe I should save up for the more expensive system.
