I'm building a small, portable layout based on the 1980's vintage book "Small Railroads you can Build". The center visual divider is a styrofoam mountain. I'm going to make one half desert--Colorado Plateau--and the other half Northwestern (Washington/Idaho) pine forest. I can find a lot of references for how to model deserts, but I have yet to find a good set of base colors I should be using for the Northwestern mountains. Any suggestions?

Phil

P.S. This is proof you can start on a layout and pick up again. My version of the Yule Central has been in the making since 1995.
