Thanks to Ed I now have all the train shed I need.  I'm amazed by the generosity of some people!  (sad commentary on the state of Human affairs...)

Usually, if that's the case Walthers will list the item as "Arriving summer 2021" or words to that effect. "Discontinued" usually translates to We have no intention of producing this anytime soon.

That might be giving Walthers more credit for being organized than they deserve. More than once I've gotten an e-mail from them about a product that was on sale that week, only to click on the link and find out the item is "discontinued" for example.  Huh?

Somebody does make an accelerant for CA.  It does instantly set the CA, but the bond is not as strong and can be quite brittle at times.  I eventually threw mine out and never replaced it   CA sets quickly enough anyway.

I have noticed the later runs of Cornerstone styrene kits produced in China use a grade of plastic that seems to be more brittle and also doesn't react quite as well with liquid plastic cements.

Yikes.  That explains the note in the booklet something to the effect "be sure the adhesive will not react poorly to the plastic," which made me stop and ponder the implications of my adhesive choices.

Basically, I have CA and Testor's model glue.  My local hobby shop also had some sort of spray mist that supposedly instantly cures/sets the glue being used.  Have not tried it yet.  Built my Walther's roundhouse sections last year with these and have not noticed any discoloration or other issues...... (fingers crossed)

The Milwaukee Road Warrior
This set was announced in 2019 right as I was getting back into the hobby; I was also planning to model the Milw Rd in Milwaukee so I was pumped about the kit.

Same here. I had it on order from a local hobby shop and it had been delayed several times. I sometimes checked eBay and occasionally saw them listed for considerably more that I was willing to part with.

On a whim I looked again in the fall of 2020 and a seller had a new-old stock kit, still sealed at a very decent price. Sometimes when a re-release of a product is announced it seems some sellers are more willing to "unload" inventory.

I see there are a few still available at MB Klein. I have noticed the later runs of Cornerstone styrene kits produced in China use a grade of plastic that seems to be more brittle and also doesn't react quite as well with liquid plastic cements.

I replied to your PM Yes Yep, still working for me!

Regards, Ed

Right.  This set was announced in 2019 right as I was getting back into the hobby; I was also planning to model the Milw Rd in Milwaukee so I was pumped about the kit.  First release date was March 2020.  Then covid.  Numerous delays and new dates were shown on the Walthers site as I periodically checked it.  Finally late last year the status changed to "In transit."  I finally got mine thru my local hobby shop a few days ago.

But there has never even been an entry for the expansion kit that I have seen on either the Walthers site or in the yearly catalogue for 2020 or 2021.  So the shed expansion is definitely not even on the radar for Walthers ...which, again, is odd...

The Milwaukee Road Warrior
I took this to mean there are TWO trainsheds, each ~ 22" long, for a total of 44" of train shed.  Not the case.  Going thru the parts I find enough for two sheds ~ 11" long for a TOTAL of 22-3/8".  Grrr.

Sometimes Walthers can be confusing with their verbiage. They did provide a footprint, though.

I just bought one of the original Everett Stations for a bit less than the recent release is going for.

I probably won't be using the included trainshed.

Send me a PM with your address and I'll give you the pair of sheds out of my kit. These were made in Denmark but I'll bet they should match the current one pretty well. (Better grade of styrene in the Denmark kit)

There is one on Ebay.

Wow! That's more than I paid for the whole kit! Whistling

It could be the extension kit's production was delayed in China or wherever and just hasn't gotten to Milwaukee yet.

Finally, the instruction book has an updated copyright of 2020, but maybe the old language from the original production run over a decade ago was left as-is and the date simply updated in the book.

Not sure what you're asking here? I'll be glad to look in my instruction sheet but what am I looking for? Copyright date?

      Good Luck, Ed

It could be the extension kit's production was delayed in China or wherever and just hasn't gotten to Milwaukee yet. Given the price difference ($32 cheaper) I'd probably opt for the one with the clear roof anyway, and just spray paint it if I didn't want the clear option.

I will follow up with Walthers.  Just wanted to check here first.  It's odd that they would re-run the station kit and not the shed kit Huh?

You might try some of the larger online places like Trainworld or M.B. Klein.  They have actual in-store inventory and sometimes still have stock after Walthers sells out.  I found my carfloats at Trainworld long after they were unavailable from Walthers.

Walthers says it's discontinued.

They do have this shed in stock, with the clear roof.

Walthers Trainshed Expansion kit
Posted by The Milwaukee Road Warrior on Sunday, February 21, 2021 9:46 AM

I just got the Everett Street Station from Walthers Cornerstone series (933-2946) and while looking thru it realized that I had misinterpreted the write up in Walthers' catalogue.  The write up notes:

"Train sheds (2) each: 22-3/8 x 11-9/16......"

I took this to mean there are TWO trainsheds, each ~ 22" long, for a total of 44" of train shed.  Not the case.  Going thru the parts I find enough for two sheds ~ 11" long for a TOTAL of 22-3/8".  Grrr.

Interestingly, the instructions note that Walthers sells an expansion kit 933-2949, but I've been unable to find it (nothing came up on Walthers site).  Has anyone seen this anywhere?  I would buy one to get back to the original length I planned for at my passenger terminal, but its unclear if it still exists.  I have seen pictures from train shows in past years where this kit has been built; its easy to tell because the trainshed is about twice as long as the station itself.

This station was produced some years ago and went back into production (after COVID delays) late last year, but I don't know that the expansion kit was reproduced.  It seems odd that they would do another run of the station and not the trainshed expansion.

Finally, the instruction book has an updated copyright of 2020, but maybe the old language from the original production run over a decade ago was left as-is and the date simply updated in the book.

Anyone have any idea?

Andy
