Made a bit more progress today, set up the digital control system and added a bit more track. All of the rest of the track is ordered and paid for, along with a class 44 steam engine, a working magnetic loading/unloading crane and a couple freight wagons. I am going to add a scrap yard to go along with ore train operation.
Silly NT's, I have Asperger's Syndrome
Back in the late days of steam, DB class 44 and 43 decapods hauled 2000 and 4000 metric ton ore trains between the ore docks at Emden to the industrial areas along the Rhine and Rhur rivers. Known as the Langer Heinrich or Long Henry. This layout will feature a favor of that operation. Looking at the track plan, developed by someone more talented than I at designing them, the ore loading docks will be on the left side, with the pair of sidings. Silos and false front buildings will act as a vew block of the rear corner. One the right side will be an engine service area for the steam locomotives. Layout will be digitally controled using an older Uhlenbrock Intellibox designed for the Marklin Systems digital(Motorola) based DCC. Steam ran till the mid to late 1970's here, so both steam and diesel will be featured. Here are a few progress pics and a track plan, lots more of the Marklin C track is needed still. Track switches have built in digital decoders and require absolutly no further wiring making wiring much less of a chore than it was on older layouts.
