Well, after joining a couple of photo sharing sites, I have given up attempting to post pictures here. Being dumber than a box of rocks when it comes to this, I have found this beyond my computer skill set. I'll continue to enjoy others pictures and stick with posting my pictures on sites i understand like Model a Railroad Hobbiest.

Are you using a third party server like Photobucket to store and retrieve your photos?

  • How do I insert an image to my post?
  • Before an image can be inserted into a forum post it needs to be uploaded somewhere. This can be from another website or from any of the popular free image hosting solutions (PhotoBucket, Flickr, etc...)

Our communities do not allow photos to be uploaded for the purpose of sharing them in the forums, therefore they must be housed somewhere else. You MUST know the URL of the image before you can insert it into your post.

Images can only be inserted using the Rich Text Editor. The Rich Text Editor is displayed when creating a new thread by default and for thread replies when you select to use Rich Text Formatting (see question about replying to a thread above).

Insert an image by clicking the Insert Image button in the toolbar of the text editor.
A new window will then open to allow you to insert the URL of where the image is located.

*Note: Depending on how the community is setup, images may not appear in the forums. Some communities may remove images from posts or replace them with links.

You don't need a link....it is already on Your screen. In the list of: Msg's.,Friend's.E-mail, Favorites and ?Help. Just click on help and look up Your question, it will tell You how to do it with diagrams. It's below the green box where Your screen name is on the right. Has always been there. I use a PC.....with full screen, so everything is on my screen. Don't know about phones and such, if it shows.

Frank, don't be so obstinate.  A link to the Forum Help site would be useful to me and others, particularly newbies.  Yes, the photo posting info is in your reply, but I strongly suspect that there is much else to be found at the site that would be helpful to all of us.  And, to tell you the truth, I couldn't find the site, so a link would be helpful.  Pretty please, Frank.   Sad

Rich

Edit Note:  When I click on Help on the right side of the screen under my screen name, I see an area on posting photos, but the language is far different than what you posted.

Rich,

I am not being obstinate.....I'm being honest. There is no link to give. You don't have this on the right side of Your screen? Your name in place of mine should be there. Just click on help.....There will be a whole list of questions that any may have....just scroll down the page to Forums and look for How to insert an img to my post it explains it all with diagrams.

You don't make it easy, Frank.  Bang Head

For those who are interested, here is the link to the area that Frank was referring to:

http://cs.trains.com/p/help.aspx#forums

It is under the Help section, but in the Forums, not the Photo Galleries where I was mistakenly looking.
