Looking for a detailed layout

I found a layout in the Model Railroaded Magazine called 48 Top Notch Track Plans that I want to build. Its called Spokane Pasco & Wallace by Kenneth Gentili.

Does anyone know how I can get the detailed plans?

Except for project railroads, the trackplan and article are as much detail as you will get. Project railroads typically span several issues and are pretty close to step by step. I don't remember this one being a project railroad (there is usually one a year or every two years). You could probably follow the steps for a project layout that has grades in it, but using the layout you want to build.

This is where creativity comes in TC. Use the track plan as a starting point, and make up your own scenery and structures and industries. Making it your own railroad is the beauty of the hobby, one is never exactly like another. Weasle as much as you can from your book, and then go for the gold! You'll have a great layout all your own.

P.S. Check out APPLE VALLEY ROAD in this forum, I'd like your opinion.

My layout plan for the Lost River District Railroad in "Top Notch Track Plans" was not a fool-proof engineered and tested and re-yested track plan. It was the the plan of a layout I have built- with a bit of trial and error. I wouldn't build it again the same way anyway even if trying to do the same general thing. I know a lot of designers will draw up a sketch, carefully, but they don't always fit every fraction of an inch of every "section" of track. Nor except in the case of project railroaders does the staff at MR try to duplicate the railroad to make sure everything fits perfectly, though they do a pretty good job of making sure that track curvatures and switch "numbers" fit. Their artist draws a nice looking plan. But then you need to work out the details. The exception of course is the track plan books like Atlas has, made for their particular brand of track, tested with it, etc. Those are going to be pretty exact. Just my humble opinion. Or maybe humbug opinion.
