Can a Walthers Turntable be operated by the Digitrax Zepher System?

The turntable relys on a power supply to the motor, so depending on the motor's rating (presumably 12v DC, but I've not seen one and can't be sure), you might be able to use a conventional DCC decoder unit and address it like a loco. I'm unsure as to whether there are any function-only decoders that could do this.

It can be done. Just use a DH123 decoder and hookup the the motor leads to the turntable motor. A friend of has a Walthers turntable that is controlled by a DH123 decoder. With 128 step speed controll of the decoder, aligning the tracks is really easy. In one of latest Model Railroader(OCT 2003), there is a article on how to do it.

I did just as suggested. In addtion, I set the maximum speed quite slow so that it moves more realistically. I have not done this yet but was thinking of hooking up the light to the light function so that I would know when that decoder was selected. Incidently, I used the address of 01. I am not using the Zepher system but Chief.
