I am looking for simple block detection systems. Can anyone help me?

You didn't mention what kind of system you are using for your layout, DC or DCC. Also, you don't say what you the block detection to do.

There are a number of block detection systems on the market for both DC and DCC. I have the most experience with Digitrax DCC since that's what I use but all work in basically the same way.

They detect current drawn by a loco in the detection block. The difference between the various manufacturers is what they do with that information. In DC systems they typically provide a signal that says a block is occupied and you have to wire something to do what you want based on that information. Throw a turnout, stop a train or whatever.

DCC gives you the ability to do that and more. You could throw a turnout for an approaching train, stop it, set a signal, light an indicator or just about anything else you want.
