You always want to have the "slidy" rail on the inside of the curve. Also, for the best results, solder two or three pieces of flex track (however many you need to complete the curve) together before laying them. It may sound strange laying a 9 foot piece of track, but if you solder it first, it will bend smoothly along the whole length and you will end up with a perfect curve.
