While I have frequently used plaster of paris for rock casting and scenery finish where its quick set up is advantageous, there are better plasters available at building supply stores. Gypsolite is one common variety and has the advantage that the light weight filler provides a bit of texture that is more "dirt-like" than the dead smooth plaster of paris. It has a longer working time, as well. <br /> <br />That product has been used and lauded by many top flight modelers. <br /> <br />CJ Riley
