Lionel Accessory Wiring Help
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 24, 2005 8:40 AM
Hello,

I'm having some problems getting a lionel accessory to work properly.

I am using fastrack, a fastrack isolated accessory activator track, CW-80 power supply and nutcracker gateman. The locomotive is the green loco that came with the holiday tradition set.

I've wired the thing according to the directions, but it seems that the accessory fixed voltage is somehow being sent back to the loco (the loco light goes on when I plug in the power supply but the train doesn't move). I also have other power leads at various spots along the layout, in case that matters but I doubt.

Rather than explaining the wiring, I have drawn a diagram and uploaded it to my website.

This is exactly how the lionel instructions say to wire for an accessory with multiple terminals, so I'm not sure why it won't work properly. I also tried reversing the track accessory to the accessory terminals and this just causes the fixed voltage to go to the train and the train will run around the track without stopping.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide - I'm not a year-round model railroader and am at the point of frustration.

Hi Rich,

You may find more Lionel users on the Classic Toy Trains forums on this site. The Model Railroader forums are predominantly people using two rail systems.

[#welcome] to the forum. As RevMattCNJ said the CTT fourm is the best place for this kind of question. As it turns out it came up just last week. Click on the link. If that doesn't help you solve your problem, just post to that topic, and one the guys should jump in with more suggestions.
