Laying out an easement with MR Templates - HELP
Posted by wjdiamond on Saturday, October 15, 2005 2:44 PM
Hi folks,

Has anyone used the following?

Laying out an easement with Model Railroader templates found here:

[url http://www.trains.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/001/647dsuww.asp[url]

I'd like to print these out and the pdf suggests printing them at 200%? Neither of my printers will allow for that. I have an HP OfficeJet G55 and HP Photosmart 7960.

I'd be grateful for any advice on how to use these templates!

I just checked, and the templates are in PDF format. If you use one of the later versions of Acrobat Reader, they have a Snapshot tool (the icon looks like a small digital camera) which you can use to capture any part of the window and copy it to the clipboard. Mark the template, then Edit->Copy. Start your favorite word processor and paste the image there. You should then be able to enlarge the image (keeping the aspect ratio constant) until it prints at the correct size. You can tell if the size is correct by measuring the inch markers on the printed template.

Awesome, great idea! I tried this, and I'm almost there. I can get the template enlarged up to 271% in print preview which makes the image about a 1/4 inch larger (longer, so that 1" is 1.25" in lenght) than it should be between the marked 1" increments. Any ideas???

Thanks again for your reply!
