DCC in an N Scale Bachmann 0-6-0?
Posted by tommann on Monday, August 29, 2005 9:39 AM
Hi;

I have one of the latest runs of Bachmann 0-6-0's. Has anyone installed DCC in this? I haven't removed the shell yet, but I assume there isn't much room since the motor hangs out the cab. Maybe one would fit in the tender? How about adding a headlight? Somehow, I don't expect that anyone has done this but I thought it would't hurt to ask. I also want to add electrical pickup in the rear tender truck. It runs pretty good, but more pickup can't hurt.

Thanks,
Tom.

tommann,

I haven't done a decoder install on this one but I am intrested to see if anyone else has. I did have a thought on the headlight though.

Installing the light in the tender, in some sort of sealed box or something to keep the light from lighting up the tender, and then running a fiber optic to the headlight in the loco might work better as far as space is concerned. Heck, run one to a rear headlight for switching purposes while your at it! Hey, and you could run one into the firebox and mushroom the end with some heat, paint it orangey-yellow and you've got a fire in the firebox!

OK, maybe I'm going a little crazy with this, but it could be interesting, don't cha think?
