You need two things, a Domain name & a webhost.

A URL (website address) like www.bobsLayout.com uses a domain name that is registered with one of the many registrars like godaddy.com and others. You shouldn't have to pay any more than $10/year to register it. After registering the domain, you have to have the registrar "point" the name to the proper location of your webhost (the service where all your files live.)

There's not many ways around having to know a little html code if you are going to set up and maintain your own website. Some services like geocities offers free tools for setting up a site on their servers . You can use Microsoft Word to set up pages and use their publi***o web function, but I've never used it.

I set up all my sites using HTML at first and currently use a combination of that and ASP/Visual Basic scripting since most of my sites involve reading or writing to databases for one reason or another.

I'd find some high school computer geek to set up the basic code for you and show you how to insert photos, add or change text, etc. Once you have the basic HTML code, it's pretty clear how you can modify it without ruining anything. (Keep a back-up in case you do.)

Wayne
