dcc decoder in older P2K gp9
Posted by bopking50 on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 5:59 PM
I have an older Lifelike GP9 in which I would like to install a DCC decoder. The circuit board does not have the 8-pin plug, but rather seven separate connectors. I'd like some suggestions on what decoder to install and also how to install it. Will I have to change the bulbs? The install circuit board measures about 1-5/8 x .6875". TIA

I have an older gp-9. It was easier to pull out the board and drop in a new DCC board. I used the NCE DA-SR but I am sure many other replacement boards would fit. Yes. you do have to either install resistors, which make the bulbs dim, or replace them. TCS recently announced a new drop in board that has voltage drop built into the board thus no resistors are needed.
