Bear in mind that the decoder fitted to the Bachmann engines such as the GP40 is the Lenz LE1000W, the cheapest unit that Lenz make. I have a Bachmann GP50 that came fitted with this decoder and I have to say that the noise level generated by this decoder is very bad. Take note, it is not a silent decoder. <br /> <br />I very quickly replaced it with a TCS A1 silent decoder, and the noise reduction is quite dramatic and most welcome.
