Stupidity factor unveiled-Decals
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 5:24 PM
Am going to ask some really stupid questions about making custom decals on my computer. My 13 year old can show me the basic setups for designing (it sucks when you have to ask an 8th grader how to run this thing and they just give you that "look", like you're stupid) The questions are:

1. Can I buy the decal paper at Office Max or a similar store?
2. Is my standard HP deskjet 3520 capable of doing this?
3. Will my standard ink work or do I need different cartridges?
4. Is there someone out there who will do this for me, if I send photos, so I can spend more time on layout instead of figuring this aspect of the hobby. I'm much better at building and weathering than at working on the computer. I can find porn, ebay, and Trains.com. What else is needed?

1. Probably not.
2. Maybe depends on what you are trying to do on what paper with what ink.
3. Remember you can't print in white. Only black or in color.
4. Rail Graphics.

For the many young members that inhabit these forums:

The above was probably just one of those dumb jokes adults make when they forget you're around. Stick to Ebay and trains.

You can get decal paper at Wal-Mart in the modeling section, testors makes it, they also have a kit that includes software to make decals. It is only $5 for the kit and it works great.

Thanks guys. Wayne, OUCH! Sorry, wasn't thinking, trying to make a joke. To Adam, thanks, that's what I'm looking for. Something accessible, cheap and easy to try to learn with.
