It depends on just how old your branchline is. If it dates back to the steam era, the common rail in use was 90 lb. This is best represented by code 70 in HO. There are many industrial areas and small branch lines that still run on 90 lb rail, but the size of the locomotive used is generally on the smaller side with 6 axle trucks to spread the load. This lighter rail also results in the need to hold the speed of the train to 30 mph or less. If your branch has been upgraded to handle modern locomotives and heavy cars, then code 83 is the logical choice. <br /> <br />Tom <br />
