Elevated subway line

Are there any references/links where I can see photos and description of an HO subway line? I see that Life-Like makes a series of NYC subway cars (expensive) but would like to see and read about actual subway layouts. I live in Chicago, for reference, and would love to try a short El line. A Google search didn't lead to much in the way of subway modeling, only links to fan sites of the real thing.

Yo Dawg,
Here's a link to an earlier thread on this topic:

There are links in it to at least two el groups. One in O scale and I think one in HO scale. Hope this helps.

Also good for photos of "El"s - www.oldnyc.com has plenty of photos of both elevated passenger lines and a now-disused heavy freight el (which I have every intention of modelling one day). Hope this helps!

This is a good site I found a while back:

I'm going underground, myself. I bought a set of the Life-Like R-17 cars (dark red with silver roofs) and they're very nice. I plan to have a loop with a couple of stations visible from the edge of the layout. This leaves the surface level available for freight ops and scenery.
