BLI SW7 Shorting
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 12, 2005 10:04 AM
I am currently considering a BLI SW7 switcher addition, but now am hesitant since the write up in Tony's Train Exchange concerning quick directional changes with the loco causes the dcc breaker to trip. Has anyone experienced this with BLI SW7?

Larry,
I have two of these on order and have not recieved them yet but I remember reading something about front truck clearance on these engines. I wonder if there's a way to improve the truck swing or pivot clearance? There's gotta be a lot of electronics stuffed into that little body shell!

It's a bug in the software, and BLI now has an exchange program to fix those that have this problem. Plus, if you remember to STOP before reversing, it isn't a problem at all.

I have the 2 SW's and the NW2 and yes I have those problems. But I put in avout 4 in CV3 & CV4 ACC/DEC and the problem seems to have went away.

BLI will be replacing the chips but you have to contact them about the chip exchange.

I do not feel that I will be changing out the chips and I use thes engines in a lot of switching.

Check the BLI web site. They have a blurb/link, on the right side, of the page about the software bug that Randy mentioned, and three options for dealing with it. It only occurs on particular ones.
