Tips and Tricks Book
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 10:18 AM
Trying not to let my age show. But I remember having a magazine of tips and tricks that were sent in to the main RR magazine, not sure believe it was model railroading, by subscripers. Had all kinds of good stuff for all phases of the layout and equipment. Does anybody else remember this and where can I pick it up at. Thanks again Carl

it sounds like you're talking about a book that was put out by Kalmbach in the 70s, called "___ Tips and Tricks for Model Railroaders". (the blank was a number, I forget what it was. 264 or something).
The book's been out of print for years. All I can suggest is to look on e-bay or somewhere, maybe you'll find a copy on there, or at a Model Railroad show.

Also, you might try writing to Kalmbach to see if they can be of any help.
"I have a message...Lt. Col....Henry Blakes plane...was shot down...over the Sea Of Japan...it spun in...there were no survivors".

I think there was one called "Kinks for model railroaders" or something like that. I bought one back in the early '70s

I remember a book called "764 Helpful Hints." I used to check it out from the library back in the mid 80s and it looked ancient then!

Ha! You've let your age show all right, and I'm about to myself!

I have this book and it's titled "764 HELPFUL HINTS for Model Railroaders" and the cover states "Culled from the Kinks columns of Model Railroader magazine." First printing: 1965. Cover price $2(!).
"Paul [Kossart] - The CB&Q Guy" [In Illinois] ~ Modeling the CB&Q and its fictional 'Illiniwek River-Subdivision-Branch Line' in the 1960's. ~
