I am planning on powering my new layout with a Prodigy Advance System. Is it true that DCC does not like the power routing switches? What switches are being used?

I operate on DCC, have shinohara #6 turnouts powered by tortoise motors from a bi-polar power supply. The frogs are powered from the contacts on the tortoise and the rails are gapped behind the frog.I've been operating for 10 years with no problem.Maybe there is a better way,but this has worked for me.I'm still not sure what dcc friendly means

shinohara/walthers is now making those switches in a DCC friendly line. I used the old version for years withh DCC and only had a few problem area's that were easily repaired.

aharden,
In my opinion, the Shinohara switches are the most realistic, best-built, and reliable turnout made. With DCC friendly versions, you should have many years of reliable service from them, if properly installed. The older turnouts took a little more effort to prevent shorts near the point rails. Powering the frog, as mentioned above, will prevent a dead spot in the turnout. Good Luck.
