<p>My first layout was a N scale L shaped layout.  I built it when I was 10 (I think) and it survived until I was 15.  It did not get much use.  Anyway, that benchwork was saved when I moved and I decided shortly after my 18th birthday to build a three-rail O layout that still exists, incorporating that original benchwork on one part. </p>
