The locomotive is a new Atlas silver series (2010) 32BHW dcc (8 pin) and sound ready. This one has the speaker installed and it is hard wired to the mother boardvia a plug. I got an ESU V5 decoder 8 pin. The question is where do the speaker wires get soldered to the mother board. I dont see any pads marked spkr. And no notes in the included paperwork. Heascratching why no marked pads or info on solder locartion for speaker wires. Anybody know anything? Google failed me again on tis search. I can always cut th wires on the installed speaker and wire the decoder wires right to it.

The pair of brown wires coming out of the decoder are your speaker leads, of course. So you'll have to make that connection yourself. Maybe you can fit a small 2 pin plug in there or just make the wire long enough to get the shell off, assuming the speaker is mounted in the shell.
One of the main reasons so many manufacturers are going to 21 pin decoders, more lighting and speaker connections without costly wiring.
Why not clip the motherboard off and simply hard-wire the decoder in place?
Hope that helps, Ed
The speaker is mounted to the wieght not hte shell. This atlas only has a 8 pin socket on the mother board.
